Faking Duality

This project deals with the duality of mankind and social distances.

Mühlrad

Our cultural club KIDM (Kultur in der Mühle) hosts events in an old grain mill back from the 18th century, which lacks it’s original millwheel. The first version of this project was just a prerendered videofile, but then I decided to do this interactive and in realtime. Nowdays our mill is on longer powered by water or wind, but by our guests and friends who support our cause and help to keep us going. I thought this would be the most adequat way to visualize this idea.

The main challange was not to get any feedback from the projection, as the camera looks directly onto it. I illuminated the whole scene with invisible infrared light and modified a Ps3Eye so it was just sensitive to this part of the light spectrum.

This work questions the long-term benefit of charity events and development aid for third world countries.

A generative fractal visual, based on horizontal video tracking movement. The first screenshot represents 10 minutes of the movie “Brazil”, the second one was done during the last even at our mill in carinthia.

Transparent User

My girlfriend asked me to do an avatar for her facebook account.  I could think of nothing more personal and appropriate than a MRT scan of her inner head. Even nowdays a user can’t get any more transparent. Luckily she had some recent shots at home.

Graphical Notation

In the first place I wanted to do a motion design for the song “Needles” from Bodi Bill, but after some sketches I ended up with some kind of graphical notation to the music. I’m going to do the visuals some other time, this looks like a lot of work!

Visuals, finally

All those VJs focusing on technology,mapping and realtime generated visuals. Don’t get me wrong, I love technology but it constrains you to its functionality and sets a certain kind of aesthetics.

I use very basic shapes and few colours as my focus is on movement rather than detail. Hand drawn animations 25fps 1080P, the background patterns are made out of reduced Porn clips. BW pictures show all frames of a single animation layer blent together.

Geschlechtsneutral

I believe the gender movement to be a very good thing. I just think activists should not mess around with language too much and concentrate thier power on more important things in order to achieve equal rights for both sexes. This Sticker may be attatched to objects with neutral articles.
